Suzanne Edwards
In 2012 Suzanne Edwards started S. M. Edwards and Associates, a private mediation service specializing in Family and Divorce Mediation aiding estranged couples in their efforts to move forward into the next phase of their lives, with dignity and grace.
In 1995, as a union officer, Suzanne worked with the first airline in the industry and its labor union to incorporate the Alternate Dispute Resolution process into their contract. The process of ADR, also known as Interest Based Bargaining, to resolve disputes and grievances was very beneficial to both sides. It sped up the resolution process and reduced the need for Arbitration. Alternate Dispute Resolution, or Mediation, has become an important tool for resolving business issues as well as legal issues.
For more than 16 years Suzanne honed her ADR skills resolving day to day workplace issues between Labor and Management as well as employee to employee disputes. She also took a lead role in helping to bring both sides together on many major issues as well.
Suzanne attended Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois for Certification and Continuing Education in corporate and business Alternate Dispute Resolution. Later, she attended Northwestern University for Family and Divorce mediation.
After completing arbitration certification at the University of Maryland in 2009, Suzanne spent 5 years working in Arbitration Advocacy. Researching, preparing, and presenting cases on behalf of individuals relating to their contract in the areas of discipline and termination disputes. She had a very successful track record of receiving fair settlement agreements.
Suzanne also served for 11 years as an elected member of the Board of Directors for the Association of Professional Flight Attendants with over 18,000 members.
Traveling the world extensively, Suzanne has attained a wealth of experience in diversity and cultures. She holds current professional membership with the Academy of Professional Family Mediators and the Association of Conflict Resolution-the New England Chapter.
