The short answer is yes. But, if you feel you need some assistance in the divorce process, and don't want to hire expensive attorneys. You may want to consider divorce mediation.
Do It Yourself divorce, also known as Pro Se divorce, is the process of developing the necessary agreements, filing all appropriate documents with the court, and following the necessary steps along a specific time line. It isn't necessary to pay attorneys to do what you can do yourself, and a professional divorce mediator can help.
If you and your spouse have decided to end your marriage, and do not want to fight over every aspect of your divorce. Then your divorce would likely be considered an uncontested divorce. In an uncontested divorce most issues are not in dispute and both of you are willing to work together to find agreement in any area of dispute.
Mediation can help you though the negotiation process in a civil and productive way. Your divorce agreement should describe all your agreements regarding children, income and expenses, assets and liabilities, insurances, etc.. The more detailed your agreement, the better the understanding between you and your spouse as you move forward with your new individual lives.
